Australian composer and pianist Sarah Elise Thompson (b. 1996) is known for creating delicate, flowing harmonies and dreamlike textures in her works that invite listeners into her contemplative sound world. Her compositions—often reflective and meditative—have a flowing, water-like quality that can transport listeners into a peaceful, hypnotic state.

Following her successful debut album self centre (2021), Sarah’s latest EP eternal light - out 16 OCTOBER 2026, features 5 inspiring, uplifting works for piano and string quartet, including singles ‘wings’ and ‘saw you in a dream’

Sarah studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and has received commissions from ensembles such as The Choir of Trinity College, Melbourne, Ensemble Offspring, PLEXUS, The Song Company and the Australian Youth Orchestra, with premieres at the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Recital Centre, and Carnegie Hall. Her music ranges from solo and chamber pieces, to larger works for choir and orchestra. Her music has been premiered and performed for audiences around Australia, and internationally in the US, UK and Europe.

Sarah is an associate artist with the Australian Music Centre and is currently a resident composer at Church St Studios.

Sarah is currently completing new commissions for solo violin and electronics for US violinist Nicholas Bentz premiering in 2027, and a new work for Divisi Chamber Singers premiering in November 2026.

Her latest composition sanddollar arranged for harp premiered in July 2026 as a part of harpist Emily Granger’s A Thing Of Beauty album and tour launch, out now via ABC Classic.
